In Florida, a judge will not allow parties to go to trial in a divorce action without first engaging in mediation.  A Florida divorce mediator is mutually chosen upon agreement by parties' counsel.  The divorce mediator has the task of showing each party the strengths and weaknesses of their respective cases.  The mediator’s goal is to resolve most if not all of the issues in the case such to expedite court finalization. 

Mediation is always less expensive than going to trial and can be extremely successful when both parties are represented by an attorney.  Even when a divorce mediation is unsuccessful, your attorney will learn much about how opposing counsel will present your spouse's case at trial.
